One year ago, we launched the pilot cohort of our Ruidosos Fellowship. We paired two emerging communicators, Ruby Fuentes and Valerie Hernandez, with local organizations, and we couldn’t be prouder of how their leadership and skills have bloomed under our program. 

To give you an idea of how much our fellows accomplished, here are a few projects they led—

• Curated a traveling exhibit showcasing art by children asylum-seekers
• Raised $10,000 for humanitarian aid for immigrant families waiting to seek asylum using digital fundraising tactics
• Developed a digital toolkit for an abortion funds’ street team to promote their services
• Gained the confidence and community to continue growing as communications leaders in the Rio Grande Valley

The cohort will start on Feb. 10, 2025, and run through June 27, 2025. We have 5 seats available, and we now offer two options to apply:

2. Apply to be paired with our host organization, South Texas Environmental Justice Network
