About
About Ruido Studios: Ruido Studios is a hub for communications and digital strategies in South Texas. We do this by cultivating emerging communicators and organizations to shape the narrative of the Texas-Mexico border. Through our hub, members have access to learning sessions, community building, and leadership development. Our hub is open for communicators, storytellers, creatives, and local organizations who are advocating for social justice in the Rio Grande Valley and neighboring communities.
About the Ruidosos Fellowship: The Ruidosos Fellowship is a program designed to train emerging communicators in the Rio Grande Valley. This program is for those who want to use creative communications and digital strategies to build people power and win the change the Rio Grande Valley needs. During the program, fellows work with a local organization to get hands-on experience and have the opportunity to learn from experienced trainers and mentors. The aim of this program is to invest in local talent and accelerate their learning to fill gaps in local organizations.
From our alumni
Testimonials from our pilot cohort alumni
"This fellowship was a great opportunity to build my skills in digital communications and rediscover the power of storytelling. With the many social media platforms available the Rio Grande Valley has an opportunity to amplify their voices louder than ever. Let’s make ruido!"
—Valerie Hernandez, pilot fellow paired with Frontera Fund RGV
"Being an inaugural fellow at Ruido Studios was an amazing and unforgettable experience. Ruido Studios provided me with so much support professionally and creatively to create successful and intentional campaigns for The Sidewalk School and contribute to cultivating a new narrative for The Rio Grande Valley and beyond. I highly encourage people to be a part of the Ruido Studios Hub to not only help them craft strategic digital strategies to advocate for social issues they are passionate about, but to also build community and creative partnerships across the 956."
— Ruby Fuentes, pilot fellow paired with The Sidewalk School

host organization: South Texas environmental justice network (STEJN)
For applicants under option 2
The South Texas Environmental Justice Network was formed at the start of 2020 and includes numerous organizations, campaigns, individuals, and the Carrizo Comecrudo Tribal leadership from the South Texas region that challenge the status quo and corporate power to build a future aligned in values, principles, and praxis that centers on the social and environmental health of local Native and BIPOC communities living in reciprocal relationships with our shared natural home.
Our network seeks to end the environmental, social, and economic injustices borne on the Latinx and Indigenous communities of South Texas. We aim to do this by building a community amongst regional advocates and empowering historically marginalized voices to speak up and be heard. By doing so, we want to radically change the oppressive systems that have harmed our communities and extracted wealth from the people and land of South Texas.
