Introducing our “956 for ALL” series!

April 22, 2025

At Ruido, we firmly believe in the power of personal storytelling and the wisdom of our lived experiences. That means talking proudly and loudly about our identities, culture, and cultivating a sense of belonging across everything we do.

In these times, it feels like topics such as “race” or “gender” are too controversial or risky to bring up for fear of retribution or unwanted attention from certain extremist political groups. And while it is true that our freedom to share ideas in the U.S. is on unprecedented shaky territory, we believe our role is to remain firm in our vision to change the border narrative and create a new story where all of us, across our differences, can thrive and live freely.

That’s why for the next three months, we’re hosting a series called “956 for ALL”. In this series, we’ll explore and celebrate how community leaders are building an inclusive and multicultural region where everyone can thrive in South Texas.

Join us this Sunday, 4/27 at 11:30 AM for our panel on belonging in the RGV. Come learn from community leaders who are facilitating spaces for people to explore and celebrate race, identity, and culture. Space is limited, so RSVP today!

Our lineup for this event represents a diverse group of leaders who are defining what belonging means in our region:

  • Sabrina Walker Hernandez of Village in the Valley (ViVa)
  • Tony Innouvong of RGV Asian Market Night and Moboba
  • Kirti Singh of India Association of RGV
  • Aleida Garcia, artist and cultural administrator

After the panel, we invite you to stick around for our community potluck! We encourage you to bring a dish or drink that represents your culture or traditions. For the main dish, we’re proud to collaborate with Ruido Studios hub member Suzanne El-Haj of Jadwa Table جدوى .

Don’t miss out! RSVP today to save your seat and join us this Sunday at 11:30 AM at Moboba in Edinburg.
